Interreg Food from Food Oost-Vlaanderen

OBJECTIVE

The Food from Food project stimulates, supports and accelerates innovations in the agri-food industry in the area of value creation from vegetable by-products to food. Food from Food is a cross-border project of Interreg Flanders-Netherlands and supports both countries financially and practically.

WHAT?

Four promising pilots will be developed, of which two have already been chosen, namely leek and carrot. The other two will be determined during the project.

EXPECTED RESULTS

Through the Interreg project, we will develop new food products and ingredients with a nutritional functional value (such as potatoes, fruit and vegetables) so that there will be no (or less) residual flows. This will involve food products and natural (E-number-free) fresh ingredients, such as fibres, vitamins, proteins, colouring agents and fragrances, which serve as a healthy enrichment in food applications. Demand from the market will determine the value-added routes in this respect.

EUFood from Food has been financed within the Interreg V programme Flanders-Netherlands, the cross-border cooperation programme with financial support from the European Regional Development Fund. This project runs from 1 January to 31 December 2019.
