NRL for Residues of Veterinary Drugs

SERVICES

Since January 1, 2013, the Technology and Food Science Unit, in collaboration with the CER-group, has been appointed by the Federal Agency for the Safety of the Food Chain (FASFC) as National Reference Laboratory (NRL) “Residues of veterinary drugs in foodstuffs of animal origin (EC-Directive 96/23)”.

In a nutshell, the most important tasks of this NRL are:

  • Provision of scientific and technical advice to the FASFC and the approved laboratories
  • Development, validation and implementation of new analytical methods and improvement or extension of existing methods
  • Participation in workshops and proficiency tests, organised by the European Reference Laboratories (EU-RLs)
  • Distribution of information obtained by the EU-RLs and at international symposia to the FASFC and the approved laboratories
  • Organisation of training for the FASFC and the approved laboratories
  • Organisation of proficiency tests for the approved laboratories
