aiko in kanji charactersAiko pink flowerWorld premiere: the AIKO©!

The AIKO® azalea will be presented for the first time during the DECOoh! Fair (Brussels Expo, 7-10 February 2010). This new plant is nothing short of revolutionary - once the flowers are completely open, the azalea takes on a completely different personality. The Institute for Agriculture and Fisheries Research (ILVO) developed this new type of azalea and Azanova cvba is marketing it.
In the future, AIKO® azaleas will be available in pink, white and red. In Japanese kanji characters, Aiko stands for ‘love’ and ‘child’ and means ‘someone who loves others’.

Anysurfer

Our website has been awarded the AnySurfer quality certificate for web accessibility!

This means that people with a functional limitation, such as people who are legally blind, dyslectic people, older people, and people with motoric and auditory handicaps can now find information on this website without difficulty.

The Flemish government, through the "Accessible Web" project, intends to make all of its websites and web applications accessible. In 2008, the Flemish government launched an impulse program to stimulate all of the Flemish government services to maximise the accessibility of their online information.

Some examples of how we make our website more accessible for people with special needs:

  • images are accompanied by textual descriptions;
  • sufficient color contrast improves readability on the screen;
  • letters can easily be enlarged;
  • tables are kept simple;
  • text in downloadable documents (such as PDF format) is easy to read;
  • forms are easy for anyone to fill in.

The logical structure and clear navigation of an AnySurfer-certified website benefit all website users.

Achieving the AnySurfer certification is just the beginning. Continual efforts will be required to meet the strict demands of this certification.
